We are excited to celebrate Love Your Library Month with a fun student dress-up week from February 16–February 20, 2026! Each day will have a different theme to encourage reading and library love.
Please see the attached flyer (English & Spanish) with the daily themes so families have time to prepare if students wish to participate. Participation is optional, but we hope everyone can join the fun!

Ms. Lumbreras welcomed students from our lower-grade library classes as they explored and learned about different authors from around the world and the wonderful books they have written. Students then partnered up to select books of their interest and enjoyed reading together, building confidence and a love for storytelling. To make the experience even more special, Librarian Mrs. Lumbreras created a warm and inviting atmosphere with a cozy fireplace display where students relaxed on the carpet and immersed themselves in their reading.
Our Kindergarten students also joined in the celebration by listening to an interactive read-aloud, drawing their favorite story characters, and sharing their artwork with classmates. This meaningful activity encouraged creativity, listening skills, and enthusiasm for books.
World Read Aloud Day was a joyful reminder of the power of reading to connect, inspire, and spark imagination throughout our school community. ❤️📖

At its January 21, 2026, board meeting, the La Joya ISD School Board approved school actions to improve academic quality, address a decade-long enrollment decline of more than 8,000 students, and ensure financial stability. Following months of analysis and engagement with over 900 stakeholders, these actions align district resources to better support student success. Student families and district employees received information today outlining impacts, timelines, and next steps.

Our campus was filled with excitement as we proudly welcomed School Board President Mr. Julian Alvarez for a very special visit! 💙 His day began in our library, where the Gonzalez Cheer Pack kicked off the celebration with spirit and smiles. From there, our hallways came alive as students from PK through 5th grade greeted him with enthusiasm and pride! 👏🎈
