What does SHELTER mean under the Standard Response Protocol (SRP)? 🏫

A Shelter response is used when specific hazards require students and staff to take protective actions - such as during severe weather, hazardous materials or other environmental emergencies.

The safety strategy will depend on the hazard and may include moving to a designated shelter area, sealing a room, dropping, covering and holding, or moving to higher ground.

Una respuesta de Refugio se utiliza cuando ciertos peligros requieren que los estudiantes y el personal tomen medidas de protección, como durante condiciones climáticas severas, incidentes con materiales peligrosos u otras emergencias ambientales.

La estrategia de seguridad dependerá del peligro y puede incluir trasladarse a un área de refugio designada, sellar un salón, agacharse, cubrirse y permanecer en esa posición, o trasladarse a terreno elevado.
